Connecting to the stars

Physics was one of my favourite subjects in schools, especially when it comes to astronomy and solar system. All about Milky Way as well as its sun and the nine planets never become just a flash of things in my mind. I mean, I took the lessons seriously.

Me as a young child found it’s nice having a dialogue with stars and planets at night. I was a stargazer, I’m a stargazer, and I will be a stargazer forever. Surely I’m not the one who recognise most of the constellations, I wish I could, but if it’s Venus or Mars I’ll know and notice it straightaway. Time goes by and now I think I can say something about them, about stars and planets, as I’m in love more and more with them.

Earth is a planet, and planets are stars. This one should be easy because science told us so in schools. But, to me, stars are more than just “other objects hanging in the sky”.

Stars are not as “dead” as they seem.
They share the same essence of soul as we are: The Source.
They are alive.

Think about Earth. I don’t know whether I can describe it well, but I hope we all can feel it. Earth is alive. This body that we live in has its own mind and soul, just as we do. Remember about a saying “We are not human being having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”? What I see is that stars are also spiritual beings, obviously not having a human experience but “star experience”. This actually doesn’t just apply to stars but also to all creation including rocks, wind, and water, for instance.

We are all the dust with a spark of divine intelligence.
This spark of divine intelligence makes all creation alive.
The stars are no exception.

No wonder that I feel comfortable having a conversation with the stars since very little. Yes, because they are alive. And as I grew up, I see how stars hold many wisdom and mystery of the Universe awaits to be revealed and discovered. They’ve existed since billion or even trillion years ago. Through lifetime to lifetime, through one birth-death process to another, through creation to destruction, they transform too.

Take Earth as an example.

Seasons, flood, climate change, earthquake.
All natural phenomena we experience here is part of Earth’s transformation.
Some of them are minor transformation.
Some of them are major transformation.

Sounds like us, human, right? Of course both internal and external aspects can trigger a transformation. To Earth, human is something external. So it’s true that we, human, affect how Earth transform.

If all of this applies to our Earth, I believe other stars experience the same thing. They’ve gone through a lot. Connecting to them is something that makes me cry most of the time.

It’s like having a conversation with your very great great great great great
great great great … great great … great great great great great … great
grandmother and grandfather.

It’s just the matter of
being humble,
being receptive,
having an intention.

You can follow this step if you like, but you’re free to do it your own way.
  • Gaze upon the night sky and broaden your vision (if you’re indoor, try to find a window where it’s possible for your to stargaze).
  • Choose a star, it can be a planet or just a non-planet star. You don’t have to know its identity, if you know then great. I personally prefer to talk with the one I know, for instance Venus, Mars, Sun, or Moon. Well, astronomy and physics said that Moon is neither star nor planet, but it’s up there and would love to have a connection with you too!
  • Close your eyes and spend some time to quiet your mind. Basically, like a state when you meditate, a state of pure awareness.
  • With your mind eye, see how the light of the star welcoming you. It’s actually a sign that the star is open for you to have a connection. However, note that everybody can experience this differently. My sign could be different from yours, so don’t worry if you experience it differently. Just trust your connection.
  • Now you’re face to face with the star. Usually, you’ll have a sensation of becoming one with it. Like you share the same soul with it. Again, everybody might experience this differently. Trust your connection.
  • It’s a conversation time. Talk, ask, and share as many things as you want. In this stage you may cry, smile, or feel certain emotions as you access the old wisdom and knowledge about the Universe and about yourself. Whatever feelings come up is totally fine.
  • When you feel ready to close the conversation, say thank you to the star for spending time with you. Know that you can visit the star anytime you want in the future.
  • Finally, you come back to your place and open your eyes slowly.

“The cosmos is within us.
We are made of star-stuff.
We are a way for the Universe to know itself”.
